Not as simple, but in a nutshell yes, except not just welding, prepped as per client spec ect. This habitat used an auto tig unit to do repair, fibre optics view trailing and leading edge of weld for inspectors to view weld deposit ect.
Habitats are normally a one off piece of kit, rig crack repair, or hot tie in on live hydrocarbon subsea pipeline.
Mains points, divers are working at 1 bar pressure within habitat. If auto welded, no coded diver welders required = saving mega bucks for client!!

i watched a program on TV bout deep sea divers who lived in the hyperbarics for weeks on end so them can make repeated dives. Doesn't look like fun to me.
But the dentist luvs ya as the filling get tasty and decompose throught time with electrical conductivity, cash cow springs to mind
Takes a special breed of person to do this work, remember the diving part is only a way for the man/woman to get to the task in hand, then the real skills kick in..............but hey, when in sat, at least they get to talk funny

definitely not for me i can get claustrophobic in a wardrobe
Most of the stuff on the fab/weld manu side. I did do a couple of taster courses doing welding, brocco burning, pipe fitting in a dark and dirty flooded dry dock @ Leith Docks, with a view to doing a commercial course, but at the time, was not the logical route to take
Stuck with the sport side tho, being naughty checking moorings, fish farms ect. Me and my dive mate did work for a guy producing U/W videos. We worked on a few production here in Scotland and, further afield in the Middle East (Red Sea) twas ****e, but somebody has to do it
