Edit, I should add, I'm not condoning it but it's no less safe than the DA, 2 pistol grip windy drills and rivetting hammer that I have, all with no secondary safety mechanism.

I've always removed the "safety" device from die grinders, never had a problem.

I bought mine off one of their reps who comes around in a kitted out van, like the snap-on guy. Might be worth giving them a call and asking if they have a dealer close to you

I have these two, the one on the left is blue-point and the one on the right is werk brand. The werk one was way cheaper than the blue-point and is just as good.

His hand tools are rubbish. Softer than a pensioners turd. It’s the first time I’ve seen a hammer mushroom over!! I don’t buy his carp but one workshop here who’s stuff I fix is full of it.

To be fair they have a long series die grinder of his. I’ve used it and it’s pretty good. They employ donkeys and it’s still alive so I am going to assume it’s better quality than his hand tools.

By way of an update, in case it helps others, I bought this one in the end.

In use it’s great and doesn’t cause pain in the arthritic fingers. The 2” flap wheels are superb and much easier to control than a 4 1/2” grinder.

I also like the small flexi grinding disks for getting into tight places. The rubbery feeling things are also super great for cleaning up.

Everything is tool-less change as well which is nice, makes changing disks a breeze.

One tip, use a PCL XF fitting, the extra flow ones with the bigger bore. This tool is very air greedy and it performs noticeably better with the XF fitting. My compressor is 3/4” BSP all the way to the outlet of the moisture trap which has 2 of the 1/2” BSP XF outlets on it so getting XF all the way to the tool really improved performance.

One small dislike, the variable speed valve is on top and not suited to right handed people. It was constantly moving to the slowest setting until I wedged it. But this is minor, for the money this is excellent.

i take em off there a pain in the ass . there safe enough . sometimes you put them down though and they start up on there own
