I have had a chat with the engineer in Ross, they reckon it should be repairable. Next time you are over this way drop me a line and we can take it into Ross for an opinion.

and they directed us to the most fantastic old stone dovecote. They opened it up and then apologized for what they described as a load of old scrap that was stored in the corner,

Doesn't that speak volumes, 'a load of old scrap', they couldn't see (a) what it was, (b) what it used to be for and (c) that there would be people happy to take it off their hands to preserve a piece of history
