Help! Non-standard taper, in the lathe spindle.

He has measured the taper in a slightly non-standard way, i.e. the 99mm is along the slope length (see his post #14).

Were it measured conventionally, there are many online calculators:

Taper Degree is the central angle of the taper measured in degrees. It can be calculated from the taper % or it can be calculated with the number of the different type of tapers.

I will make more accurate measurements, on a cold head. in a week I need to unload 4.5 40 foot containers with equipment. Hellish time pressure.

A quick CAD sketch shows that to have a taper angle of 1.5628 degrees - not any standard that I can see. It's close to a MT5 at 1.5073 deg, but still miles out.

Jarno tapers are all the same angle at 1.4321 deg, so nowhere near.

All assuming the given measurements are accurate, of course.

Now comes out at 1.5884 degrees... which is almost exactly the same angle as the one on the Freebies post (that's a 3MT bore I think) - however Sergei's is larger outside diameter.

You'll need a bloody big set of gauge balls for that size taper! Most sets only go to an inch.

The only 2 balls close to the diameters available, alas, are not ideal spheres.
