Henry hoover variants

A vacuum repair man told me that the greater majority of cleaners that he mended just wanted emptying, do people think it digests the rubbish? Where do they think it goes?

Yes my brother sold lots of vacuums he pulled out of skips and just needed cleaning..Some people are frightened to get their hands dirty..I don't mean just lazy, I mean they have a real terror of muck and dirt in general, even the sight of it, like a phobia, and they are happy to buy a new hoover every few weeks, rather than empty the old one. Very odd.

Most of the electricals I fix have very minor faults, if they have a fault at all. Vacuums seems to be the worst, they smell because they aren't emptied and get dumped because of the smell.

I've a bare Henry here, no hose nor tools, if anyone wants it for the cost of posting.

Been looking at the Henry wet and dry, argos 120quid.
Sick of buying vax carpet cleaners that pack up just out of warranty.

Either the wheels fall off, belts don't stay on/snap.

The last one on firing it up sounded like a motor bearing had gone, next minute loads of smoke, slung up the garden..
So anyone got a wet and dry and is it OK for carpet?

George sucks great !!, has a float that cuts off suction when full of liquid also a vibrating pump for detergent mix in a removable tank
Looks like that Henry has had a bad night out, you would not let it near rotating machinery

I do think I should treat him to a new hose nut. Then I think, I have a lathe, just make one....... so he goes around with gaffa tape and a frown

There's so little to go wrong with any of the numatics.

I have a big boy NTD 2034 as a shop vac, it looks like its done several lifetimes already but still sucks like a new un. Like already said, just keep the filter bag clean...

Cousin has used a George for the last 4-5 years? for wet-valeting cars, it gets used day-in, day out. Never missed a beat. Seriously well designed and well made vacs.

I bought a Henry a few years back after the previous Bosch gave out a puff of smoke and when I investigated, the cost and availability of spares prohibited its repair. On the Numatic website there is a number of the Henrys sold and estimated to still be in use. That and the fact that they are still made in the UK was good enough reason to buy.

They are easily the best vac.

I put a note on freecycle to see if anyone had a broken one kicking about (as they're repairable) and someone said "no, but ive got a working dyson that you can have"

I needed a vac so i accepted. It was rubbish. So many bits of plastic to break, get jammed, get things caught in, get caught on things. I hated it.

Ive had two dysons, and they have both ended up in landfill. I have two henrys, both acquired used, both are still in use today.

Saying Henry / George are good we have a old Bosch unit in big workshop must be getting on for 45/50 years old Had to put new wheels on it last year dropped & broke plastic support thats it used for liquid, swarf & general vac duties wont die, sounds rough for the last 5 years though

Mine has two switches on the side - on/off and high/low. High/low circuit packed up years ago so it’s been linked out and running on high only for years. Apparently there are loads like that.

Henry's are brilliant. Got 3 variants.
And one shark as it has a powered head for picking up the dog fluff.

Henry's take the abuse of hoovering the garage floor of grinding dust/wood shavings etc where everything else would throw its toys out.

I even turned one into a jet engine by hoovering up absorbent granules which had absorbed petrol. The vapour ignited inside the motor and spun up! Was an interesting noise and mildly amusing but afterwards did make me twitch.
Still worked afterwards though

As you like suction implements @MattF another for you £13.00 15 years ago cleans lathe etc
The Bosch has a bigger hose 100mm with a reducer on the input end never blocks so sensible would be good on Henry range

It was Sulking only found it due to whites of it's eyes but for you

Mine must be the great great grandad, he’s metal ! Still going strong despite years of workshop and building abuse and he wasn’t new when I got him either.
