I wasn't been humorous it was a serious question.
With regard to the discussion above I think to a degree your both right. If your scared to death of something then your not going to respect it or competently use it but. A little bit of fear is a good thing. Not fear of the machine itself but fear of its capability of you do something silly. So I agree with both sides to this

Oh ok ok, I missed the last post on page 1, blimey that's a fair cut, a thread on here only the other day was about a fabricator being killed with a grinder! Hope you get that fixed up ok.

Totally missed your injury in this thread, looks sore that one. I do get the comparison with firearms at stage 1 of learning people are scared and lacking in know how (any mistake they make is through lack of familiarity like failing to prove clear or pointing it were it just shouldn't get pointed, keep putting their fingers in the trigger guard etc). Stage 2 people think they know and stretch the boundaries (hopefully they learn from a scare not an accident) . stage three and you have the respect and the knowledge in bedded so deep tweaked by what might happen from experiance stage 2. I shall say no more other than only last week I was handed a loaded empty gun by a professional and trained user the other week, in built drills embedded at stage 2 (perhaps the most dangerous stage saved the day). Yes quite like grinders I probably had 20,000 hours use in before I ever hurt myself with one and it makes you re-asses things instead of being an expert Compare both these to driving; the learning stage, the show off stage then the educated mature stage.

Was cutting using the Big 9" on some steelwork the other day and a few times I got set up and thought on, then shifted my stance in case I had the thing kick back.
