Does anyone know the best place to buy new horse shoes for welding projects.

i don't think you can buy new ones as far as i know. Best bet is go to your nearest stables and ask them to save you some when the farrier comes.

Thanks for the offer but I'm really after new. I'm hoping to make some cowboys, owls and maybe a boot rack. I've seen them on the internet and they really cool. Gives me a excuse to fire up the welder!

You can buy straight lengths of horse shoe bar. I will speak to my mate tomorrow about suppliers and price

Not sure what you think is wrong with old shoes but I wouldn't pay that for something new when you can get perfectly good old ones for nothing. Go talk to you nearest farrier or stables you'll probably get old rasps as well if you go to a farrier. These are made from recycled shoes.

Hanging basket looks great,I like the bracket but I think it is let down a little by the angled framework, Looks like 25x3mm, would have been more balanced using 6mm thick stock.Only my opinion of course.

The angle frame was the only stuff I had, it will be removed, because it's a first time project

Thanks for all the advice, I've managed to get a load of used horse shoes form a farrier. I will post picks of my creations if they are any good. Just agreed to lend my welder out so will have to wait a bit.

Make yourself good friends with a farrier !

I now have about 100 horseshoes at home of varying sizes and thicknesses.

The missus has 'blinged' a few up with ribbon / lace and embellishments after I had brass wheeled them clean and they sold very quickly as wedding keepsakes.
