The blacksmith/Farrier college at Holme Lacy has them by the skip load.
Might be worth contacting them direct.

Interesting that horseshoes come in pairs.
I thought that horses had four legs.

The two front shoes are made slightly different from the back shoes, so thats were he might be selling as pairs, but could be wrong

I only use front shoes the rear ones tend to be an odd shape and have two toe clips.

I have a decent source now, My daughter farrier can't be bothered weighing them in any more, with all the faff on about identity and paying by check etc, so he drops them off when he calls to do her horses shoeing. Just got to get some inspiration (more like search the net and copy and modify designs to suit my purposes)

Ask him about his rasps as well, the farrier I used to get mine from used to chuck his old rasps in with the shoes. He used to go through them quite quickly as well, I'd generally get one every other visit or so. I use them for all sorts hot cutters, sheet metal slappers, knives and if your good with the forge they make good snakes

Strange you should mention rasps,he had left one with the last pile.

Those rasp can be re sharpened if needed, on buffing wheel

clean them and dip in battery acid for 8 hours and it will put a new sharp edge on them and the same with any file

I have done files with weak sulphuric before,but not heard go the buffing wheel for rasps.

Use a stiched mop and a coarse buffing compound. I used it to sharpen the rasp knife on my profile pic. I will find out who exactly supply the compound tomorrow

Blade edge was done on a Japanese water stone 6000
