We don't normally switch ours off through the winter but did this year, I had some fittings disconnected to get all the water out and didn't tighten them all back up.

Ah its a complicated setup, we have 6 areas of grass but only really one bit classed as a lawn. We also have 3 lawn mowers, a big ride on I got cheap as it wouldn't run properly, got it going but its really too big for what we need as there's a lot of trees and such to cut round. Then have a walk behind flail mower, thats the machine for doing the bankings and round the trees but doesn't leave a good finish on the lawn. The lawn is done by an ancient hayter which is passed its best, hard to start and hard to push, the lawn is only 9m x 15m so thinking of a cordless mower so it's easy for the wife to do during the summer when I'm busy. Found a deal on the ryobi 36v one and seeing as all my other tools are ryobi would work in well.

Well the water went in at 6 degrees, currently at 9 so looking promising.

just went and looked at one yesterday it was tripping the power .120 quid to get the firm out and that's just to look. a quick test and the heating element down. needs a new one the rest ok .charged him 30 quid

I didn't get as far as asking how much the call-out would be, as soon as they said I needed the whole setup and only they could fit I knew they wouldn't be involved with the repair much longer.

No I don't switch mine off either, winter is the best time to use it, especially if there is snow.
I switched it off to do a water change, then got involved in other jobs and before I knew it a week or more had gone!

Yeah I agree about the winter use, had to move it to get a digger into the garden this year and didn't get round to refilling it.

You should have got her a small ride-on, just think of the Brownie points!
We've got a ride on as well, it doesnt actually get used much, its really too awkward for the areas we have and even the main lawn has a set of 4 steps you need to go up to access a second bit.
The spare batteries for my other ryobi tools will be handy.

it is about 70 yards from my house to the shed, so I use the ride on as a taxi, come in for tea, cut the grass, back to shed, cut the grass and so on, take a detour round the old fruit trees down past the shed now and again, job done,
