Ah fair enough. Looking into one of those foreign voltage/current meters on ebay for my innacurate TIG set, but they need a hold feature or a very slow refresh rate to be any use on a retro fit.
Tech Arc don't charge a lot for their meter kits, no hold function though. But even so, hold is less useful on TIG as it remembers the last current you welded at which isn't much good if you tailed out using a pedal.
I tend to lay the ceramic on a piece of scrap material and arc up while looking over my shoulder at the meters if I need to see what's going on. It only takes a second or so if the meters are steady.
