How's next year looking for you?

As one year draws to a close, it feels like a good time to ask how everyone is feeling about next year. With 30,000 odd members working in a wide variety of occupations, it would be interesting to hear how we're all feeling about the prospects for next year.

As with everything, my business life is complex

Given the number of things on the go (I have finished 2 bids today...) I will be taking on staff in March

If one of the extra jobs, from any of the businesses comes in, it will be early January

My landlord has raised rent for the third time in 6 months this time by another £200per month so as a no body this is devastating.
I have a 20yd scrap bin I’m going to fill next week with any tools or machines I don’t need to complete orders . Scrap ferrous is low at the moment unfortunately. Once completed everything is going in the scrap
Company I work for has reduced staff from 30 to 10 so I reckon I’m next .

Been through enough recession to just accept it

I’m retired, worked 50 years full time and 10 years part time. Glad to still be here and have collected some brilliant male and female friends over the years along with my 2 sons who regularly keep in contact.

Dont run my main company any more, but still have my Aircraft/Rotax maintenance sideline, and have seen the amount of work dropping, one of my clients did his own service, he was very apologetic, but he basically said he was a bit short on funds.
Think that many people's discretionary spending is being reduced when the basics are not so expensive.

Dont think its going to bad as the last few times, but as @pressbrake1 says, it does have a distinct wiff of slowdown/recession about it

Last year wasn't great in tourism. Oh no.

This year the reservations are looking loads better I'm told.

The fencing day job is always busy, always hiring, because it’s hard graft people can’t hack it and leave after a few weeks.

Welding side of things is mostly repairs and is a steady stream, but I like it like that way.

I'm not getting pestered by the Recruitment Pimps.
Usually a sign of a turn-down in my industry (IT).

Im inclined to agree….we've holiday cottages and bookings are definitely later, folk looking for cost savings, folks eating out less too. Well be ok even with no customers as weve no debt makes life much simpler.

I've been semi-retired for about 2 n abit years now, I had another major operation mid-november I'll be off until March 2025 at least, possibly longer, with another operation on the cards.. .

I would like to go back to my part-time work, but it may not be possible, and with what this government seems to have planned for the pensioners and their savings/earnings.

I'm thinking I might as well work out of my garage for cash, spend my savings, then downsize the house and sell off my equipment, and then let the state sort it out after that....
PS:- Because IMHO, Starmer is turning out to be a Bigger Buffoon/Clown than Boris ever was....

Been very busy this year...20th Jan could be "interesting" so not really sure what 2025 will bring yet!

I could do with a nice 3-6 month break if I'm honest.

Retired 8 years ago, at 56, planning to live the dream. It’s pretty much been the exact opposite, and each year it all goes further down the toilet, so 2025 won’t bring any surprises.
