i have a bit of a tirfor fetish - have 4 of them from small to large. Very capable if used right. Definitely the way to go - just make sure the anchor is secure.

They are brilliant winches. The first time I worked one I broke it, so I thought, walked up to the trainer to tell him. He let me babble on for a few minutes before telling me I had only broke the shear pin and the spares are in the handle! The copies aren’t very good but you can buy ex military ones for not a lot
