Hydraulic press recommendations

Righto, does this one look decent enough chaps? Not a bad price so despite recommendation for Automech I am just after a bit of confirmation. Ta.

I have the less fancy version of that press, it has served me well but was nearly defeated pressing out a 32mm pin on a digger arm. It managed, and made a hell of a bang!

Offsetting the ram is a great feature. Looks OK. The ONLY thing would be that if you wanted to do panel pressing like the OP of this thread, the frame is probably not wide enough, which is the problem I have.

No, in the end life took a new turn. Got a new job and moved to Spain and I only brought the basics with me due to transport costs. Maybe I’ll build the workshop back up again but for the foreseeable future I’m just enjoying the new surroundings, oh and the weather. 24 degrees here today.

Often when a press out is under pressure but not moving, when it is under pressure a decent clout with a 5 pound hammer along the longest axis will cause a shock wave that results in the piece being pressed out or start moving . B prepared for a hello of a loud bang as it releases .

I've had to use a 30 ton cylinder press tool to get the kingpins out of the front axle of an ancient Bedford MK , yet on a massive 1960's Thorneycroft Antar tank transporter it only took a 10 ton hydraulic bottle jack in a specially welded up reinforced box frame & a whack from a 7 pound sledge hammer at the axis end of the axle ( humongous bang ) to free them .

I once had to press the wire wheel adaptors from a pair of Aston Martin’s DB6 half shafts , our workshop press wouldn’t touch them and none of the local garages had anything bigger. In the end we found a farm machinery company that had a 50 ton press they would allow me to use so off I went. The press was in a room off of the main workshop so I was left to my own devices, got the shaft set up and started pumping the handle that was at least 4feet long and about waist high, got the pressure up a bit then ended up hanging my full weight from the handle (all 8.1/2 stone of me) a few bounces and an almighty bang which had one of the guys from the main workshop come running in concerned there had been an accident . The second one was even louder , my ears were ringing
