The pin is 9mm diameter that pushes into the machine....and I didn't even know it had a name until I just looked it up. My Kemppi machine has hard wired cables which is a bit annoying now I see how easy these are to connect and disconnect!

I had a closer look at some picks on Hyundi website and at least one of the cables seemed to say 16mm squared, so they'll probably be using a 10/25 Dinse connection for those. I'm in the process of adding another Dinse socket my welding machine, so thought if I'd match what this machine uses, I could use the one lead for both in the event I buy one. Thank you for checking that for me.

I'm itching to have a play with the welder but I'm straight out this evening and can't get messy!

Same here regarding the portability....my thinking is just something light that I can pull out of the cupboard and use without too much hassle. I'll measure up the lead plugs tomorrow and let you know what size they are....the rod holder basically looks the same as the parweld one I've seen.

That seems to be a much nicer mounting system than my current helmet; I'll compare them to be sure, but very well may pick one of these up, if nothing else it'll be handy having more than one helmet for when I'm fabricating with someone else.

Yea my old helmet is going to be relegated to visitors helmet .

The true colour lens is really amazing....the contrast is alot better than my old one....I never heard of them before until last week when someone on here mentioned them!

Are they actually made by Hyundai?possible but I doubt it
they have branded inverter generators too that look too cheap to be true

Had a first attempt with the new welder...my new rods don't arrive until tmrw so this is with the free rods I got with the other machine....toolpak which I guess are Screwfix jobbies.

Think I need alot more practice...this was on 125a ...plate is 5mm steel ...plenty of power it seems (maybe too much!). The start was alot easier than the buzzbox plus it keeps going very well.

I need to put some practice in....aside from doing a couple of gate locks I haven't done stick welding. The main issue I was having was getting the buzz box to get started....that and the power seemed to fluctuate so you'd get an inch of weld and then it would go wrong.

I think maybe 80a - 100a might have been a better choice!

I'm guessing 13/16 * 200A = 160A maybe? ....I plan to just mark up the 13A limit on the dial so I know where to stop when I'm out of the garage and don't have access to a 16A plug.

So my SIF rods arrived ...I reckon there was a reason he gave the welder and rods to me for free!

The SIF rods lit up straight away and ran alot nicer and the weld is a lot cleaner.

Now all I need is a few hundred hours of practice.

I think I'm going to conclude that I'm happy with the new Hyundai HYMMA201 ....I do need a lot more practice though with stick welding I think!!!

Good idea. Won`t the length of duty have an impact too on how soon the fuse pops? It`s gonna get warm when on the limit I guess.

I think fuse popping is more to do with inrush current rather than duty cycle; the fuse will either blow when you turn it on / first strike an arc or it won't ime.

if you stick to 3.2mm rods, you'll be fine with the 13a plug. Probably fine with 4.0mm rods as well (150-160 amps?) but to my mind, you just try it... i.e. run 3 full 4mm rods on the bounce, and see how hot the plug gets The off-on nature of stick welding means that it has a greater chance to dissipate heat and keep things within safe limits.

ESAB or Bohler rods are nicer again than SIF. I highly reccomend Bohler, it's all we use, because they are well priced and always available at our local welding shop.

If your not welding often, keep your rods in the airing cupboard or similar, as they can absorb damp into the flux coating.
