Hyundai silent compressor

Anyone running a 50l hyundI silent air compressor thinking of getting one to test tanks blow lathe down etc not really planning on running air tools on it, are they any good

It does I have also thought about some sort of cnc router this would blow the path ahead of the router end mill

I sold my piston compressors and bought one as I moved from a semi rural location to a built up area. The noise from the old compressors was just too much.

The Hyundai means I can use it at any time without worrying about getting an ASBO.

They are very expensive given their air delivery though.

I work in my garage out the back after work I stop all grinding at 9 and stop welding at 10 I know they're expensive but if it's not as loud as a 4 inch grinder enough that'll do, the larger capacity one means it shouldn't be running as often

Oooh, timely thread, I've been looking at these also!

@RaceDiagnostics : Subjectively, how "loud/quiet" is it really? Is it like a "hydrovane for a hobbyist"?

Well I don't know how loud/quiet a hydrovane is, so tricky to make a direct comparison. However you can stand next to it and hold a normal conversation, for me it is well worth it.

The downside for me is I'll need to buy a second one when I need to do some more paint spraying.

Are the twin motors a sequence start as I fancy one too?
I’ve had an old Aldi 24L 2.5hp for years and use it regularly for smaller jobs in the cave but it’s always struggling and a silent one makes sense. I want 50L but no more as space is important also a better CFM than what I’ve got.
I notice like for like the silent ones can’t produce as much CFM as the noisy ones.

I got one several months ago. Two pumps working in parallel, each with two pistons in parallel. Single stage. Quiet enough to easily have a conversation next to it.
Found the cable was too short, so first job was a rewire.
Pistons are not maintainable, so once seal is gone, will need a new piston.
Would recommend.

Don’t understand the no oil bit, surely it needs some sort of lube?

The motors are maintenance free and the pistons are plastic sealed in a Teflon coated "barrel".
The stroke is about 13 mm.
I have lubed the seals, but for my peace of mind.

Bumping this thread as I am curious about these 50L silent compressors.

What would their duty cycle be like? Would it be too much to hook it up to another 100L tank? For very occasional DIY automotive use. Like when using blow gun etc late evenings and Sundays. I live in a built up area.

Otherwise for more intensive use during daytime I can switch on the 3hp piston compressor on the 100L tank.

i have one. gets the use you describe. is reliable and effective. haven't hooked it up to a bigger tank though.

If the need arises when I get more room I intend to link mine with a larger capacity silent compressor

If there might be a problem, fit a valve between the two tanks and give the compressor a rest, as you increase the amount of your stored compressed air?
