I can't contain my excitement ..... new workshop.

So i've been working in this place (first pic) for the past 12 months.

It's been great but there have been a number of issues. Primarily, access to the space is quite difficult during the week, meaning weekends only for the most part.. which means it's taking forever to finish my Clio build, which is starting to get super annoying.. I want to finish it and get onto other projects. The biggest killer about weekends is if I go away for a weekend or whatever, it means I get no work done that week.

So.. I found a new place. It's a massive improvement .. It's bigger, cheaper €400 pm vs current €500 .. and 3 minute drive from my home, versus 20 odd minutes to the current place. I will also have keys and get access to it whenever I want. It is going to be mega.

The new place is 29 x 42 foot which is really big.

It's right in the centre of town and there is evidence of a previous break in attempt. There is a monitored alarm installed which I will re-activate for €30 p/m and I will need to pay a few quid for electricity on top (details TBD). So maybe net, it will cost the same as current place. That said, I'll spend a LOT less on fuel getting there and I should get a lot more done so it's much better in real terms.

For my Clio, you will see that it's on a roll over jig, which I don't own. So over the coming months notice period, I will be spraying the underside with the Rustbuster Epoxy Mastic as it will be difficult to do without a jig. Once that is done I should be able to spray the other surfaces easily.,

It is 29 x 42 as i've walked it myself.

Yes those lights would be savage on juice. I think they are also gone, so expensive to replace. Electricity arrangement not yet sorted, but if i'm paying, i'll be likely to use LEDs that I can take away with me again, versus paying for new HID bulbs.

It's €€€ 400 per month not GBP - It is also in Ireland, in a rural enough town. So that would explain it, really.

That Anglia isn't mine. It's fairly rotten and needs plenty of welding.. I'm not sure what the owner is doing with it really.

Re the door - yes, I need to see what will be done about it. I'd like to replace the jams with still angle iron and make a new door - i'll see what the owner will say. I'd happily build it, if he pay for the steel.

I had to explain to her that Benjy's was the cheapest of the cheap sandwich shops.

Are you using it as a commercial work premises or simply a garage to store and work on your own projects? If the latter it's a big enough expense. I was lucky to have the space and built a steel framed garage / workshop almost exactly the same size as that, just a couple of feet smaller in both length and width than yours but 2 years worth of your rent paid for the build. Admittedly that was 2 years ago now and as we know materials costs have risen dramatically.

Tell me about it.. it's cruel. I have made this hobby a very expensive one (It's the latter, above). Now, I have been back at my parents the last 18months with no rent.. and it is literally my only outlet.. None of my friends live here anymore so I literally have nobody to go out and socialise with lmao.

But yea, I hear you.. I would absolutely love to build a unit somewhere.

I have yet to nail down where I will live when I return to England later in the year (somewhere South East).. but it's expensive. I'll likely just get a place with a garage and that will be enough space for me.
