It sounds like his whisking technique needs improving and or the choice of whisk needs looking at. You are not going to use the same whisk for making a couple of portions of Hollandaise sauce and a couple of pints of batter mix for frying Fish just as you would not expect to do the same job with a 4oz hammer and a 40oz one. Build up a selection, same as having multiple files or hammers. As for technique, you should not be hitting the bowl with the whisk and if you do it should be sliding across the surface of the bowl, not digging in.
