Of course the ideal solution is to house it outside in it's own seperate enclosure with louvre doors for cooling and maybe even an extractor fan.

Mine is in an outside enclosure, but louvres let the noise out and my workshop is in a residential area. I've lined the housing with insulation and put a thick layer of sand on the floor to try to absorb some of the noise.
Most of the noise comes out of the intake, extending mine made this worse, I'll modify it eventually to be like a motor car silencer, for the time being I've buried the end in a pile of cushions!
