does anyone know what these tools are used for? They were part of a box of engineering tools I bought at an auction.
Yup. You’re right. I did look hard but didn’t see the different metals at firstLast one is a gas nozzle for oxy-propane burning torch.
If I had to guess I would say that the first is a circlip pliers.
Second looks like a plumb bob. Does the knuled ring have a hole in it?
I’d say possible countersink?Middle one might be a plumb bob, minus the line.
Or a dead centre for a small lathe?I’d say possible countersink?
A good callOr a dead centre for a small lathe?
Are all tail stocks tapered?it hasnt a taper on it so it wont be a dead center that you put in the tailstock and it wouldnt be used in a chuck in the tail;stock
Circlip pliers, not home made, I have several sizes, both internal and external. Sykes Pickavant, I think.Left to right
Home made internal circlip pliers
Dunno but the knurled bit looks like it undoes? Home made bob?
Oxy Acetelene nozzle
Tailstock are always tapered, except Capstan lathes, but I can't think why you'd put a dead centre in a Capstan lathe! Are all tail stocks tapered?
I’ve not had enough experience with small model lathes to know. Which is the sort of size that would be?
Except points are straight on op's
