Inexpensive rigger boots

Might be a bit clunky to drive the snowmobile there in?

Just back from the snowmobile destination funnily enough, didn't intend having six pints. I'd only gone rubbish collecting (albeit with my wallet).

Met a nice couple from Cardiff...

As an aside what do we all pay for a pint, £4 here.

£3.60 odd for tenants carling , £5 for moretti quite expensive, £4 ish for Heineken

A pint costs about the same here (South Australia) but beer is more expensive.

We have an official "pint glass" but it doesn't hold a pint - it holds 425ml.

It costs more to eat as well because a foot long Sub is less than a foot long.

Update: The blister I got walking back from the pub in my new Portwest riggers has nearly healed. I'd have said "heeled" for comedic effect but it was on the top of my left, big toe.

I didn't feel it at the time mind.

I just buy the £14 ones as the more expensive only do an extra few months,the last 6 pairs of cheapies leak after just a couple of months,I think water gets in where the leather wears to the extent the steel is visible,with chronic back weaknesses I spend a lot of time kneeling.

Surely if you suffer with your back wearing cheap footwear is only going to make things worse?

Bought a cheapo pair of riggers 3 years ago when our house build started and the site was a quagmire. Still going strong, not in daily use. Almost due a new pair but think I'll go for dealer boots next time. Any recommendations for half decent cheap dealer boots?

Compared to these, any boots would be cheap

They come from Church's and must be hand-crafted from the finest unicorn hide as they can keep tour little tootsies warm and dry....(but only if you're prepared to part with £980.00, yup that's not a mis-print - see https://www.church-footwear.com/gb/en/men/style/boots.html ) I used to buy boots from RM Williams back in the days when they were cheaper (they were never cheap, but I was prepared to pay a bit extra for comfortable boots - choose size, width, toe shape, heel style, sole etc and in the old days you could buy from outlets in Oz direct and save a very healthy wedge. They've been through a couple of ownership changes in recent years and are finally back in Australian ownership so we'll see what changes that brings...

I can't recommend anything specifically as I wear lace up boots because I'm not convinced that a boot that flops around on you foot is good for anything other than getting on an off easily.

My point was more about focusing on something that is comfortable and fits well over cost when you are already suffering. Poorly fitting/unsuitable footwear will certainy have an effect on your back, often this can happen without you even realising. I appreciate cost is absolutely no guarantee of fit/comfort and it's obviously entirely possible the cheap boots fit you well.

I had a friend who suffered quite badly with his back, he would go to the chiropractor and they would sort him out, he would then go running and start suffering again. Eventually they discovered he had one leg shorter than the other and that was putting strain on his back. Once they found this some adjusted footwear cured his issues overnight.This took years before someone realised what was happening.

I wear Dewalt Titaniums, the cheaper Dewalts are ok but the Titaniums are comfortable from day one. I'm on my third pair. I'm not wearing mine all day every day like yourself though.

I used to like rigger boots until the day i cut a bolt off with a grinder & the hot end fell inside. Did a fair old jig getting it off sharpish!

I know some places don't allow them for those reasons.

From what I see on a daily basis they seem to be worn by a lot of people who can't even make it till tea break without having 2 energy drinks.

Only 2? We have a lad at work who's only liquid intake appears to be Red Bull.

I'm very tempted to by a pair of Rock Fall safey boots to try.

I had their honey coloured, Timbeland/Cat, non safety lookalikes for years. Went over to them when the kids came along and I could no longer afford the former. Great boots, most miffed they stopped making them.

Not so sure about them now though, now "verified by the Vegan Society" with some products meant to be made from recycled stuff. Probably that statement actually is enough to put me off. Makes me want to buy a leather jacket!
