As an update I ended up just replacing the satellite dish and running a fresh cable, it’s all fine now, only issue is the programme guide doesn’t load until you go on to the channel and the TV caches the information - apparently it’s just the way the Tv works. If I want a full guide straight away I need a separate Freesat receiver.
In the future I’d like to have Freesat in two other rooms, I could run a cable to one of them easily (ish) but the other will be more challenging. In this day and age surely there’s something I can plug onto the wired socket that sends the satelite signal wirelessly to a receiver in another Tv? If not then it needs to be invented!

I moved back to freeview because of the slow, clunky guide on my old Humax freesat. I used these guys... http://aerialsandtv.com/atvschoiceofaerials.html

Your in Somerset so I’m guessing your picking up Mendip but I also have a second aerial picking up Stockland, two different types to suit the transmitter. Excellent signal on both 100% of the time.

I would prefer freeview over free sat but I don’t think it’s going to happen now. Will be upgrading the TV this year and will aim to get one with a proper sat receiver which will solve the guide problem
