Unfortunately Richard this wasn't a Black and White case (or Lorch Orange?!?) Mathiesons have been Lorch agents since we first entered the UK market in 2005 and have a lot of factory trained service engineers employed and in general terms I can't speak highly enough of them.
They have a set of Black and White guidelines to work to and sometimes that doesn't lend itself very well to "grey" scenarios like this one, so it's sometimes necessary to put another solution in place to ensure the on going satisfaction of the customer.
All's well that ends well
Well I would just suggest you use another distributer if you don't like That one. Masks and welders etc are going to be the same where ever you go and your always going to get a problem arise with any brand from time to time that's just life but if your not happy with how that distributor resolves that problem then use another one. Simples. As you say at 70 miles there and back there must be others more local and that meet service expectations.Well every one has there own opinions ' Matt and I've got mine ' one of the guys I work with and others in same company bought expensive welding masks from a certain company ! And they began to brake the owner of company got his replaced , jocks broke the same as others had ' and when he asked the rep to sort it he said it must have been dropped from a hight and refused ! Jock picked up his cheep Esab mask in temper kicked it down the factor then picked it up and started to weld with it , and told the rep what he thought of him and the £320 or so mask ! No guesses who the firm was ! Ps if the firm have nothing to lose with Guarantees why don't they email lorch with the customers details ! To save any GREY SCENARIO 'S !!!
