Perhaps I should have a word with the mods and create a sticky
Great idea.

I sprayed 2k primer on my hot rod, using an organic filter mask. I’ve read several threads on it over the years and that has been recommended by many people. Even the paint place I bought it from said it. I know guys who have done that for years too.
Now suddenly it HAS to be an air fed.......

Its also not just something that can happen immediately, I have been around 2k products most of my working life not directly as a painter but it's a process I have used and worked around.I sprayed 2k primer on my hot rod, using an organic filter mask. I have painted odd bits with and without air-fed, done spot repairs and blending on-site with cartridge full face masks.
|And despite having H&S qualifications and understanding the hazards and properties at one time I may of sides towards your views if it was just for small parts and limited time.
Then one night after helping a painter hold and positions some awkward parts while spraying wearing a full face mask with top speck new filters and full PPE, I woke in the middle of the night coughing and struggling to breath went on for about 4 hours.
It's a sensitivity issue that can hit you at any time and once it happens my research has led me to believe once it gets you it will subsequently get you each and every time.
It is not worth the risk. 2k is the ultimate finishing product but its not something to be taken lightly.

Read quite a bit regarding isocyanates, absorption through eyes and skin is seemingly a mythIsocyanates can penetrate through exposed skin and your eyes, there is a reason exposure limits are so low, once sensitised like dermatitis and other similar reactions you remain that way and it can also be a path to other reactive issues
Materials like asbestos were also widely used without any appreciation for the future health risks, but we now(hopefully) know better

Sorry Parm but even our own hse says it's wrong, see the link https://www.hse.gov.uk/mvr/bodyshop/myths/myth9.htmIt’s not
Says can cause dermatitis, not absorption like people believe it to be and it's also under the header, myth, oil and many things cause dermatitis is not as serious as the respiratory risks by a long shotRead the info carefully. It does not say they are without risks

Not mine parm, tell the HSE, the facts are they have published an article stating the opposite of what you have said, if you have a gripe with that take it up with them, they do the researchI bow to your greater expertise
