Ever since I looked at a couple of dewalt saws on facebook marketplace, variants of these ads keep popping up on my feed:

I used to message them as both should be £250-£300 second hand but never get a response and then the same pictures appear a few weeks later under a different name.
Can't figure out what the scam is here, given they never respond

Possibly because you hadn't entered into a dialogue about buying?

Ask if you can view or collect with cash and you won't hear back.

If you want a reply ask them if they will post if you pay by Monza and they'll get straight back to you!

I should reply saying "I really want this but I have been called away on business. I will have a FedEx postman deliver $1,000 cash to you if you pay a small deposit for postage" and see how that lands

My guess is the scam has been achieved and they have moved on to do the same again under another name, they would only have needed a deposit and its mission accomplished.

As 8ob says it's achieved what they wanted, it tells them that it's a live address and they can sell it on as such for others to try their scams, a sort of gullibility test.
