Isolation valve leaking

I've never met a gate valve I didn't instantly dislike. They fail for fun, especially in hard water areas and even when brand new they still allow a weep of water through. Lever ball valves (preferably full bore) every time for me.

Changed for a spare for now. It will come out when i redo that kitchen and i have access

I hate those valves, we've got one on the boiler fill line. When I was H&V welder fitter I found the only way
to open those valves with out a leak was to just turn the screw head with out pushing the screw driver against
the valve

I think you are right. I also isolated it with the tap running so the pipe wasnt under mains presssure which I think also affected it.
