In answer to your question, no it's not the side of the necks, it's under the chin. As mike mentioned, perhaps the issue is that the 4000 is meant for short duration work? We use them for production welding so use them most of the day. The issue arises when we lean ever so slightly forward, this opens up the gap between the bottom of the mask and the top of the shirt/overall. My point has always been that even the 'old' helmets were not air fed (the concept of air fed masks are brilliant and I am really keen for them), they did cover all of the neck, much like almost every other welding mask out there....apart from the Albatross 4000.
Ah okay. Perhaps the helmets can be modified with a leather apron that hangs down, much like the American guys do with the pipe liner hoods.
