Thanks. I've messaged this seller to see if I can just get a couple of the bolts.

Also got some 3/8" BSF x 1 ½" grade 10.9 bolts coming to have a play with.

This got nowhere near a lathe. Cordless drill in the vice and a file. Two hacksaw blades for the screwdriver slot:

The farmer I made the bolt for stuck his head round the pub door yesterday to thank me / buy me a pint. He'd left a family celebration to come and thank me. Apparently it fits.

The guy who does his mechanical work is "taking it to work to harden the end".

Just hope it works in practice.
