This is a little fixture for joining things straight

The centre cut out is done as the last step in its manufacture, so the angle is dead straight at both ends

Those are more useful for joining rounds end to end, I have some stainless ones somewhere used for setting up pipe joints on site, mine also have a bracket over the top with a clamping screw to hold it all together without the use of G clamps

Brazing drill extentions was the reason I made this little one
Yes, I make them with clamps for welding the bars on estate parkland fence
Shown them years ago when we were putting in ammonia pipelines - very handy tighten the clamps and you get perfect alignment

Right chaps, much thanks for your assistance. Extending the angle job is now complete and both lengths are perfectly straight and without distortion.

I'm not a regular or experienced welder but I've learned a lot from this very simple project.

I now understand the importance of cleaning metal, vee prep, proper clamping and the big one for me, sitting and positioning your self comfortably. Despite my good quality rods being left in a cold workshop they sparked up beautifully, went down brilliant and even gave me a couple of peelers.

In the end I didn't bother tacking. I clamped it all solidly, then welding the inside of one face then the outside of the opposite face etc etc.

For a novice like me I feel like I've acomlpished some learning today and even ground back the welds to produce almost invisible welds, nothing a bit of hammerite won't sort out

Not been in there when they are lighting it, when I'm in there they have gone on to logs and the sticks have all gone.

We always knew you were special and now you've confirmed it, your probably the only member that can weld with logs
