Build an ozzirt burner. Mine runs on old veg, old engine/gear oil, dirty diesel, dirty kero etc...

I was thinking I could weld lengths of flat bar down the length of the gas bottle - make them longer than the bottle so they act as feet lift it in the air

then put a fan just off the ground, and a cowling around the flat bar... so it would be a bit like a giant heat sink, fan blows air up between the bottle and the cowling

guess the lack of control wouldn't be great tho, bit naff if you have to turn it off / start it up again as you get too hot / cold ?

i was foolish to suggest it on this thread really.

However, i guess the way to do it would be to duct the exhaust through a big old oil fired boiler's heat exchange, and use a big thermal store.

Light it up one a day (manually), burn it for a short time, get the store hot, and then shut it down.

Would still require a human who knew what they were up to to light it though.

Its not clear from the youtube clip i posted, but it really does get hot. It killed all the grass in about a 1.5m circle, and it wasnt even running for that long.

Ill certainly be showing it off at Chugs next year - by that point, i hope to have it doing the melting for casting though.

I've been trying to think of something for a space heater in my workshop/storage area at work, freezing in there right now, and it turns everything into hard work when you have a load of layers on and cold fingers... only going to get colder too (I must be getting old, it wouldn't have bothered me a few years back)

looked at qa few oil fired workshop heaters, thinking I could run one on bio/veg/wmo but then I'm spending 700+ one heating I'll only use a few days a year so I don;t really fancy that :-o

The device in my link would probably work fine with a wide bore stack.

If youre able to light it, you could set it going, leave it for 10 mins or so, and it will have certainly taken the chill off things
