ok,the spec' has changed slightly;shaft turns @ 50rpm,drives a 10:1 gearbox &generator is 15kw.

Hi, I have a machine that I made for cutting windows in steel gas pipelines, it has a hydraulic motor turning a tct blade, depth control, would cut a key a meter long if you wanted it to and will strap to a 4" shaft no problem.
Where in powys are you? might be up for a visit!

i'm near hay-on -wye,would like to see your m/c,sounds a good 'un.

Ok,cut the keyway[28mm] yesterday very successful-made a sleeve that fitted precisely over the shaft c/w a flat table for the mag drill base to grip,moved down the shaft 4-5mm @ a time & coupled with some alignment marks i cut a perfectly straight slot,

Bout 3.5 hours,+10 hours to measure & make the jig,& a stroke over the linisher & stone to verify the mag' base was flat.
