I have acquired one of these in haste for cheapness and am now repenting a little; I was intending to strip it and put the Yanmar clone in a mixer with a wrecked engine of the same type, but am now tempted to resuscitate it as the innards look relatively healthy with no obvious signs of escaped smoke. Amongst other defects the rubber anti-vibration mounts have disintegrated completely. OE replacements are available on fleabay, but will they just do the same and disintegrate in short order? Or do I do a little gentle bodging and adapt the mounting for universal rubber bobbin mounts? I shall take some piccys tomorrow if it's sunny.

I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly it fired up on the leccy pullstart, but less impressed with the face full of diesel smut I got as a result of kneeling down next to the exhaust to jump the terminals on the starter with a bit of wire.

stick some deceent rubber mounts on it and it should be ok. the cheap stuff becomes brittle and cracks away over use.

I would refurb it and start up as a mobile welder

ive a round tuit at work one of the lads brought it in sadly its broken it fell off the desk

Especially round ones.

After years of searching I have finally managed to obtain a round Tuit.
No longer will I have to wait to do all those tasks I have put off.

Further exploratory surgery reveals that the AVR is toast, although the windings appear ok on the multimeter; the next adventure is being brave and testing the windings with it running, as apparently that's how it's done.

Having excavated the potting compound from the AVR I am not at all surprised by the carpness of the components and the frazzled bits where it has gone phutt, but puzzled by the potting compound. The top layer is the usual flexible dark grey polymer, presumably a silicone of some kind, but underneath there is a layer of what appears to be coarse quartz chips of about 0.5-1.5mm bonded with brittle black glue of some kind. There were large cracks/fissures in the potting compound, but who knows whether they appeared first and allowed water in to cause failure, or whether the frazzling created enough heat to burst the potting asunder.

where are the pics of the avr, I may still have an avr from a clone generator, its only a might though

It's referred to by most vendors as a 10 wire AVR; it's rectangular and the type/model is AVR5-1W3C.

Here's some pics; the label says BDE6500EW, but the nearest equivalent I've found is the Kipor KDE6500EW; imaginative types these chinese chappies!

I searched for the kipor kd6500 to compare it because its from the kde6500

You weren't kidding when you said burnt out; good job fixing and cleaning it up though.

that was after the original alternator and avr had been removed, so im now hoping its in a box of generator spares I have in the garage
ill be gutted if ive binned it when someone could use it, fingers crossed

Good grief, the fasteners holding this thing together are utter junk; they couldn't be any softer if they were made from toffee that's been left in the sun. If the things aren't shearing and giving me a headache the phillips heads are stripping when I apply more than 1 nano newtonmetre of torque.
