Jings! I think when I get my new doors fitted I'll have to fit a fake flapping door skin on the bottom edge or distress the paint so it looks old and grotty! That and using tamperproof fasteners maybe. Stealing doors? What's the world coming to.

Wondering what to do with mine... go about re-making them, or just buy a new set (£££).

The new (steel) ones are said to be less bendy (ie less drafts) than the welded profile ones.

Still not sure. After seeing how much puma ones cost I decided I could repair two myself and maybe have them galvanized to last much longer then the puma doors. I'm really unsure though.

My fronts are rusted out at the bottoms, but otherwise (appart from the door cards hanging off, etc) not so bad. The skins are ok on them.
The second row are more rust than metal, and the skins are in a bad way too.

...but then a new set of the pressed steel is, what, just over £500 for the pair?

I suspect ill be welding up the old ones.

If you do end up making/repairing the doors, dont galv them.

They will warp beyond all recognition unless you make them overly beefy. A good epoxy primer and plently of cavity wax and well positioned drain holes should have them outlast even a youngster like you.

Yes welding sounds good, for me it's just lack of space a bit but as I said earlier I can leave my doors till further on in the build.

Okay point taken, won't do that then Probably just fix them and get the cleaned, filled with cavity wax or whatever I have then on

You can buy the top hat channel for a few quid a metre. unless they are properly shot past the "kink" repairing them is dead easy.
