Late change in life

At 40 you are not old , definetely .
But , be prepared , if you want to become a professional welder , you'll need to spend hours and hours and hours on learning things , experience only comes with time .
I started to work at 20 , after school , in my dad shop and now I'm 31 , learnt A LOT and still learning .
It's a never ending process .

Run you fool. This purchase leads to eye rolling from the wife, when you ask "have we got anything on this weekend" and trips away are romantic getaways to industrial estates to collect heavy pieces of Victorian engineering.
BTW, you needs a plasma cutter and a tig welder, preferably one that swings bot AC and DC. I suggest you practise " this old thing, had for ages" and " oh just looking after it for (insertname of trustworthy friend who will back you up)."

Just a bairn at 40, do what you want, if the wife doesnt like it, there time to bail out and save up for a bigger shed!

40 I can’t remember that far back I gas welded aluminium most my working life but now I am retired at 70 and repairing antique clocks, sometimes I miss work but not very often .
Welcome and go for it there will always be a need for welders .
