Sorry - I did not look to check if it was on the BOC website.
I have scanned and uploaded the leaflet from my local supplier. I was told it had been running just over 4 weeks when I moaned about BOC sending me lots of emails but nothing as useful as this one about saving money. Applies to shielding gasses as well as O/A.
Note: The leaflet has been "branded" by BOC to have my local agents details - not a BOC number.

Seen the same leaflet (except for the phone number etc) in my local welding shop - checked prices

Can you elaborate as to how they compare?
Oxygen filling cost was about £20 something per "Y" bottle and rental £40 something pa (both +vat)
I pay £20 (+vat) to fill bottle about half the size.
So I would have three rent free fills before it would cost me as much
It didn't make sense to me, but your mileage may vary depending on your usage and local prices (I don't use enough).
I guess the offer is for small trader not Micky Mouse amateur like me

Yes, you are right about both the minefield 
and concentrators
It is possible that BOC bottle wouldn't be as bad a deal as I suggested, but the rental is still a killer, however small (at least for me and my usage).
As for the concentrator 5 lpm at 90% should be OK for what I want (know any good sources?

Not any more, my ties to that company are long gone. The newer machines should provide that output though I'm not sure it would work out cheaper than bottled gas unless you could get the machine for next to nothing as the savings are aimed at long term oxygen therapy where high volumes of gas are consumed over long periods. The cost of parts in the event of machine failure would soon mount up, I hate to think how much replacement Zeolite cylinders would be in the event of waterlogging.

When my wife was issued with a concentrator she was also offered an extra cash allowance to run the machine as it soaked up a lot of electric current. As she passed away before she could use it I've no idea just how much extra our electricity bill might have been.

I sold my Sureweld because I couldn't justify the cost of a big grey torpedo sat out in the garage, costing me a hundred quid or more each year, nor was I wanting to throw my dosh away on the disposable aerosol sized cylinders that would barely allow you to stick two coins together . Just been to my local hire place and the motor factor place next door only to find that " hobbyweld .co.uk " have spread to this end of the world ( The West end of the M4 motorway ) and set up their distribution network where it really matters ..places that are open on week ends and into the early evening .
The website gives a brief rundown of the gases & mixtures commonly used so the site info alone could be quite helpful to beginners.
Latest price for pure Argon ( today 4 Sept 20124 ) was given as £60 non refundable deposit per cylinder & £36 a refill , the deposit can be reclaimed if you have still have the original paperwork but like most of these systems the deposit refund erodes as the years pass .
Now , how the hell can I convince my lass , that after she has just spent £ 226K and some , that she can't live without another ( better quality ) TIG sitting in the garage waiting for me to play with it?
