It is now but until it was recognised as a different element it was called Plumbum.
I think it was differentiated by colour Grey Plumbum or Black Plumbum (actually the latin words were used and Im not sure of the colours)

There are a lot of elements that were thought to be something else. I visited the house of Mendeleev in StPetersburg and his original Periodic Table had a lot fewer elements that the current.

You have to remember that there are no roof tanks here. It all runs at mains pressure. Up to 6 bar in cases. So push fit is not a good idea.

Before I fitted Hepo2O in my house I used it in the workshop for fixed Airline, it withstood 2 yrs of 148psi through the day and empty every night. Along with the day to day shunting of air pressure. After that I felt confident it would withstand mains pressure

Sorry, I didn't mean to say it wouldn't work. Just that it is not used on high pressure systems as normal. I understand that Plumbers needed extra courses to deal with direct mains pressure in the UK. In Portugal, and now in France, it is all direct. BUT, I notice in the local B&Q, there is a push fit system being sold. Perhaps I am just out of date....

Well I don't know about the second bit but I've ben TIGing lead for a while; here's a shielding box I made from 6mm sheet. In order to make it leak-proof all the joints have to overlap so I milled a 3mm x 6mm step round the pieces.
When I build the big irradiation shields we use 50mm thick lead, cast and milled by the foundry, goes together beautifully... but the pieces are hernia-inducing to lift!

6mm+ thick.............a dawdle, I'm talking about <3mm.

Bloody hell code 5-8, what you use code 8 on ? we usualy use code 4 lead for flashings and code 6 for gullies.
Wouldnt like lifting code 8 never mind working with it.

OK, anyone know how long them Oxy Turbo oxy bottles are supposed to last.
I got a new cylinder yesterday and started to practice and just getting the hang of it and it seems the oxy has run out allready.
I have only done about10-15 inches of welding/burning.
At £25 a shot just for the oxy its daylight robery for that amount.

Run time'll depend on nozzle size etc but it'll be short regardless. Same deal as with the disposible argon and argon/CO2 jobbies... O2 is stored as a gas so you only get 110 litres, the fuel gas is stored as a liquid so lasts a lot longer

I think you may be running to big a flame...iirc I can get 2 chimneys (box & apron) & a couple of bits from a bottle....

I set the flame about 2-2.5 inch then brought the oxy in, like it said on some tutorials on Utube.

Like a I said, TIG's the way to go for workshop fabbing up and, in some instances, on-site too, day will come when O&A will be banned from site for H&S reasons.

Pics show my first efforts after about half an hour sussing things out, using 3 phase industrial inverter, standard whip, 1.2 tungsten.

I reckon better results using single phase/110v dc inverter with 1mm tungsten.

SS wire brush is suffice for removing oxide film around weld area and slithers of filler, better to wire brush, then cut into slithers.

I'm freelancing to a gold/silver smith, both materials are nice stuff to nail with TIG........

As are all welding processes, it's all about these heat sources being in capable hands, watching the arc, watching how the material behaves when when in a molten state ect..................being skillful is the word I'm looking for!!
