leaking roof

this the second time that my garage roof started to leak.
this caused by ice forming and when it rains water has no where to go but rise through the corrugated roof where it joined.
still got the old roof under it but starting to give way. any idea of cost.
would rather have glass fibre laid on top of marine ply wood.
about 20 L x 14 wide

Google Cromopol. I cured a similar issue on one of my corrugated roofs that had been laid to too shallow a fall.

My sheets (fibre cement) were leaking at the overlaps as wind blew rain up the corrugations. Cromopol solved the problem !

could you apply a bead of sealant along the joins to act as a gasket...

I did that when I 1st put it up but that was donkey years ago.
originally it had felt and chip board but it leaks after about 10-15 years .
so I put this on top and it lasted all these years but I think the old chip boards has given up.
when I go up to check over the years I use a board to kneel on ,so with my weight it sunken in a bit.
so water settle causing a pool and when it get icy water has no where to go but up.
would prefer to put new boards up but I dont think the sheets will straighten out.
thinking of using GRP .

Prices are very regional.

Definitely time to rip the boards off and start again.

If I understand u prop.....it's the join between the old and the new roof.....?
if so, just get another metal sheet and cover the join, 1/2 n 1/2......
no need to go to the expense of another roof.....
Normally I would take off the old roofing and replace with all metal....and insulated if u can afford it....
that way no condensation....

no it where the two sheets meet in other words joint. when the water freezes over and its start to melt underneath water has no where to go .
but up through the joints then leaks through the old roof.

Na not always. Sometimes the cheapest quote is the best. Not often. Gotta base it on the person too

My flat roof (chipboard +bitumen +felt +gravel) lasted 26years from new build, 13yrs into my ownership.
I was 41 at the time and realised if I just replaced like for like, I would be retired on a much lower income when it needed doing again in another 26 years.

Decided I hated flat roofs...
So I replaced it with a normal pitched roof (premade trusses +membrane +concrete tiles) in 1997.

Now 24years later it's still like new; no worries about leaks and not likely to need work for the next 25yrs either.
The extra expense was worth it to me; peace of mind and no more bills when least able to afford it.

if theres no insulation the issue is with you

they should not be any ice on the roof unless it melts first your roof talls me its melted then frozen

i cannot say too much without a proper picture but i can assure you the felt roof should have had a seperator ridge and your own should have had a riser ridge

then you needed a bridging cover over both ridges for the best seal

From that picture, the issue it the dip in the roof - jack it up back in-line with the rest / the fall of the roof so it drains until you can replace properly.

You can also see from that picture that the roof dips, hence the puddling on it, strip it all off re timber, increase the fall make sure all the timbers are straight no dips and you'll have no problems

As far as I can see the issue is more that the sheets are laid flat
These sheets need a decent fall on them no water should sit on these sheets let alone puddle which it appears to do in the photo

Just buy some timber to make yourself a frame with a decent fall to sit on top of the original roof and it will solve your problems
