Learn to weld Ali or just give up and pay a professional to do it?

I recently did a rep[air to an old Allard, was a bit of a mare to do. I used MIG spool and gun, this was mainly due to some of the structure where welding was required, was made of wood. Weld........cool.........weld........cool and so on.

i have indeed repaired a few of them, wing mounting edges are sure to be crumbled away as well as the area round the headlamps ,a shrinker stretcher is essential as is a folder, fit the shroud with the new edges tacked only, bolt up the wings and make sure all is aligned round headlamps ect if all is well care fully weld it up it must be thouroughly clean with no paint residue or white corrosion ,after we done a few[ very expensive ] some one started making replica ones which were a better and easier fix im sure that the healey owners club might know of a supplier

Just make sure it is totally clean before and after.
Before to make welding easer.
After because the flux is extremely corrosive (use hot water but do not breathe vapour in)

bearing my soul here my siff flux no 36 came last night so had a go this morning wow not easy slightly pigeon poop but it is welded comments welcome it was easier as i went along i am using 10year old ali as it a old car but i will stick with it as i have to do a lot of repair on old ali.
