LED 6ft tubes

Well i should of got them when i could. 6 month ago as i found twelve 6 foot LED tubes for £120. now i am lucky to get flourrescent for that price. I need ten, does anybody know of a suplier near Manchester to can get some as delivery is not looking good from where i am lookng.

Do you have a TLC Direct up there?

I have 20 odd LED battens from them (Knightsbridge brand) in my shed and am very happy with them.

Yeah, I seem to remember that. I think it was LED tube type replacements for Flouro's though. Battens I believe are about half the power for the same light (put crudely )

It was both actually. I have 6 of the quality 60w 6ft battens. No different to a naked flouro tube of the same wattage. Much easier to install and daisy chain though.

I went cheap Far Eastern for my workshop. No issues in over 2 years. They do the true daylight ones as well.

I have found a set of 10 LED for £165 and Floures for £75......Mmmm its only for the garage.

I am not a fan of LED fittings, they do seem to fail very quickly indeed!
I fitted some high bay LED UFO fittings in a warehouse just over a year ago and had to go back last week and swap 2 of the 6 in one isle as they had packed up.
Manufacturer warranty 3years. Still had to get a machine in and about an hour of my time for the customer to swallow.

Sodium and metal halide fittings they replaced were 10 years old! I fitted them originally, maybe 4 of them had new lamps in that time but that was all!

ive fitted stacks of metal halide and sodium fittings. they do last longer than led but led are cheaper to buy and are cheaper to run

I've been fitting the ansell tornado double units in the workshop, the latest units keep humming whereas the two units i bought last year do not. Not sure what they've changed

Im still not sure the figures stack up yet, cheaper to run is not the only consideration, purchase cost and failure rate needs to be taken into account as sparkysy has found out
