Lifting 212Kg Machine Eye Hook for Lifting Straps

After fathing about getting the straps on the hook, the little spring clip that shuts is broken, so like it is now is unsafe, wouldn't be wise to take the risk.

I've worked in various industries with heavy lifting gear and none of the hooks have the stupid clip which always bends or the spring goes in it. Once the tension is on whatever you are lifting gravity will keep it all in place. Don't worry about the clip.

You can get a new spring and clip for the hook. but Unless your load is going to be swinging about in the wind 20feet up in the air I wouldn't worry, just be sensible when moving it.

As the little spring clip on the hook, by getting all the loops on is now broken. I'm going to be needing to get a new chain and hook. That hook seems to have a better closing clip on it. So where can I find a suitable 10 inch long chain with a good hook like that on it, perhaps bigger hook than I have so can fit all the loop ends on it OK?

The picture is a choke chain, you use the "hook" to slot a link into when you have the right size loop. The hook is not designed for anything else. Have a look on one of the lifting gear sites - example or or google a local supplier who will be able to advise/supply what you want.

You could try a Kuplex chain with a choke they are quite pricey though but it will free up your hook.
