Loose plan of action was like this:
Raise the temporary chassis and body on the lift and fit 800mm fence posts with a spreader top and bottom put in at the front footwells. The lift was then lowered until the temporary chassis started to come down without the body. An 8' fence post was then inserted into the gap above the turrets that had been created. Then the rear was lifted centrally by putting one 800mm post onto a trolley jack, with a spreader on the boot floor. That lifted the rear clear of the chassis so that another 8' post could be fitted under the tail lights and in front of the rear wheels. Then all the helpers got in there and took the weight whilst the lift was lowered. ~The intention was to pull the temporary chassis away with it, but in the end the body was walked backwards to its original (refurbed, galvanised and painted) rolling chassis parked behind.
The body was then lowered and the post between the turrets removed, together with the one in front of the wheels. The body settled nicely down and didn't need much bumping around to align it. One small scratch on the nose was all the damage done.
Prior to the lift, I spent some time refurbishing the heater, fitting insulation to the bulkhead (engine bay) and fitting the EC~U with its wiring.
Was it followed by much rejoicing and swigging of beer?
although I would have passed on the custard doughnuts as I prefer the jam ones!
