well picked it up today, in the end just slung a strop round the bed. balance was perfect

ended up spliting the lathe and cabinet, made it much easier to handle. and the engine crane was invaluable! as well as lifting it makes a perfect roller platform thing

(if he looks a bit red its cause i had just ran over his toes )

ment to take more pics but was too busy devising dubious lifting methods
and the tranit dropside was a wise choice, with the lathe, cabinet and crane on the whole bed was near enough full. and the crane can lift high enough on the maximum jib setting easy

Yes engine hoists are great to have.

That is how I lifted my lathe on the stand. Used a similar sling but doubled it for each side of the bed. The two of us picked it up by hand and put it in my trailer. I had the lighter end. He was real strong as I could barely lift his end when trying to move it off the trailer.

I have used my hoist many times. Was the only way i could move and unload the 1700lbs of welders off my trailer

Let us know if you get the speed sensor working - I bet it's something simple. I had the lid off mine and found that it actually has the toothed rotor for a speed sensor fitted on the spindle. Looks like I picked-up a 2hp single phase motor for mine today for £30 so I'm well happy (so long as it works when it gets here ).

Imagine how much fun I had shifting mine down the alley. I had some big lads helping me though. Good luck with yours Chris.

How you gonna get it down there

Take a spade with you and another set of rollers to slide 90 degrees round the corner, if it will fit.

Think that was tough - I just bought a half-ton Milling machine
