I was on tractor forums till late the engine is 2712E engine if I'm correct in thinking you can buy a whole rebuild kit for 500 quid. Are there manuals available for these engines. Still been trying to hunt down a manual for the whole welder does not exist

Radiator sounds tired to the point of needing a proper fix, so bite the bullet on that.
A radiator should be hot at the top and cool at the bottom, within reason, as that's how they work - cooling the water which naturally falls lower as heat rises.
But it's also possible to have a blocked radiator particularly when a cooling system has been neglected, this usually shows up as hot/cold spots when you put your hand across different parts of the radiator.
However, at the end of the day as it's leaking badly it needs fixing so there's little point in investigating it.

As to whether the head gasket has gone start the engine and look for bubbles in the coolant, they'll appear almost immediately if it's gone and the system will pressurise. Without a pressure tester this is easily identified by using a thumb/plug of some kind in the filler neck for a few seconds, if there's a whoosh when it's removed it's time to start stripping it down. A condom over the filler is another method.
If the radiator leak is above the coolant level then it may not pressurise enough for this pressure test.
It will also have a burnt smell to the coolant if the gasket has gone.

Assuming the gasket has gone I would usually (unless there's a good reason for copper such as a bad block face) use a composite gasket rather than copper, installed dry.
The only thing which could dampen things is if it's not the gasket but a crack in the head or block, which is a higher possibility bearing in mind you have had a core plug go, it may be that frost has done damage if there wasn't enough antifreeze in. Normally possible to weld it up with patience though.

If the head comes off I would check it for flatness and check the valves are good. As a rough idea I've sent a head for the valves to be done, skimmed and pressure checked for £100 - head work isn't usually very expensive.

Good words Bill, I'm due up with David end of the month for some time passing about with this and some Welding so if he hasn't got round to looking it over then we'll go over it.

David, I 'might' have a big enough, new copper radiator that we could modify the mounts to suit. I had a few new forklift truck rads come my way a few years back. I'll have to see if they are still around.

We had one of those Lincoln's when I was young, ours did not have the old fordson engine,
it had the same basic engine as the four cylinder ford lorry had, which was a lot
better, the fordson engine was quiet, the engine in ours was really loud.
I even have a fordson tractor with the exact same engine that was in our old Lincoln
welder, (we put from a welder into the tractor) and it is loud to say the least.
And yes, it has the injector pump with the weaker spring inside it to it can react
instantly when a load is put on it, it drinks a lot of diesel, but it is manageable
on the road and does not go balistic at each small hill it hits, the engines
out of combines though do so, and are always hunting and chugging.
Sure hope she starts and runs good for you.

These units were collected for export here in Ireland, for I know a man who sent
his down that road, he could not fix the electrical end and was so narrow minded
he did not want anyone else to benefit from having it locally.

well dads looked over the welder he thinks the fan belt came loose and may have caused it to over pressure but ill look over it with my own eyes will also fit the lindi rad to it

well after k seal only working for a bit I got annoyed and got the blow lamp out its a bit rough but its held so far. I am worried about the electrics being rubbish after doing research and stuff but my understanding of electrics is so basic I don't have a f ing clue to be frank or Shirley for that mater but plumbing and stuff I can do but please don't judge this soldering I can post pics of solderd pipe work if need be. But it stil welds at the moment. I've repaired the fuel issue and hopefully the rad issue so far. Just a rant and update i got a free ish day tomorrow so ill post a video of it running and me trying to weld. @HughF ur a hero and been a great help to me buddy. Hopefully I can return the favor at some point

I got your txt mate. Sorry for not replying earlier. That ocv reading seems low, but it welds like it is higher than the 64v you got. Try some 6010 on it tomorrow.

I'll get those dates in March when Tara is away and msg you later, I know you said you were busy but I might have had the dates wrong.

Unless you wanna teach my old man how to weld lol. Mate I know your busy so don't want to keep hassling u. I did try a 6010 on the inverter no chance lol it ran the other half for a bit then the rod caught fire lol ill tack some pipe up tomorrow and try it when I get chance what's the amperage range 85 amps down hand in the over head setting

I'd say those settings sound pretty good to start with. Watch a couple of the vids on youtube for downhill pipe, you should see the sparks and fire burning on the inside of the pipe, tight arc, jam it in the bevel, drag it down.

Glad it's still running and as to the soldering - it's watertight, so what's not to like?
Though from what's been said about it the radiator does sound like it probably wants replacement, but your repair seems to work.

well tried a cellules rod today they are weird i tried to cap that was down to my settings being way off but here is a vertical up I did with a leftover lo high from the welding day I had with @HughF and got the settings bang on so me and pipe are just not ment to be i guess ill keep practicing when I get time. I think im gunna pull the welder apart clean everything and change the engine over
