Loan or hire, has anyone got a proper valve seat cutting set?

no its a pram ,and heard that a lot of the new copy heads arent very good , dont want to throw £450 at a repro head when I should be able to do the seats on this one. thanks though

What size are your seats?
I've picked up a few Neways over the years
You might get lucky, but most are smaller sizes.

ok just checked them, ex is 24mm bore 28 external diam , inlet is 28bore and 32ex. diam , thanks either way as its appreciated.

Well took it back to machine shop, guy looked at and said straight away pointing to one seat I can see the pit from here on that one , good attitude said he would re cut them , I noticed his helper was absent today , so it seems it will be sorted with no bad feeling , although now tempted to source a set of cutters so I can do the next one..as he reckoned not to bother doing the throat , unless its a race car.

Valve seats take time - to do properly - surprise surprise these days you can't get the service.
I have a b&d valve grinder and a Wolf seat grinder, used to use a sykes pic hand cutter, but only good for old cast heads. The pilot/seat grinder is good but you can cock up a seat as easily as fix it....

Good news , collected head seats cut properly , no charge , just lost time and double journeys, so resovled and no bad feelings. really shouldnt have happened but like I say we all have our off days eh.
thanks for the advice , tempted to but some of those neways though so a bit more independant..
