@Nomad whereabouts in SE Wales, might be able to help

If you fancy torch on felt you could probably rent a torch for a few quid, save buying one

I do have a torch with a few nozzles, it might be upto the job

As others have said, air circulation is key, might be worth looking at camper van stuff, some of that has low battery shut-off

An AGM battery would be ok with repeated charge/discharge cycles, again, used in camper vans

The garage isn't too far from Newport but I'll be doing a bit of driving including trips to Swansea so can divert easily.
I'm working away now but hoping to be back in a couple of weeks and doing the work before the end of the month

Mine was a Green one, NKN 447 F, now long since consigned to the bean can manufacturers!

I got the Hillman 15 years ago when I was living near Darlington (50 miles south of Newcastle), I collected the car from Wales. At that point the car had spent 5 years based in Wales with a year on loan to South Coast.
It looks I went from one end of England to the other, just to bring the car back where it came from.



A few years later I took it to my local back street garage in Crook for an MOT - they were convinced they had sold my actual car to an odd chap who turned up with a load of post-it note directions (no map or satnav) and was planning to drive it back to Wales The chap I bought it from confirmed it - coincidences are strange things !

Spec was 1725 with overdrive, I rebuilt the engine and got the overderive working and used / abused it as a daily workhorse for many years with no drama.
It got written off in Devon 6 years ago and went to Wrexham to be put back on the road, I replaced it with a Marina estate, the Hillman was an older design but a lot nicer to drive.
