Hi the A Series was a small 230v Multi-Process unit. Taken out of production about 8 years ago so it will be quite an old one.

matt, i take it you be the lorch man about here then so.
i must say, i got one of their catalogues a few years ago, i was in awe that it actually was a hard back tbh, it oozed quality to the prospective buyer, which i may add wasnt me at the time.
anyways a while after and i was at a dealers place and he had a few lorch migs on display, one umbilical one which was up on 300 odd amps but i didnt take note of the model tbh.
i had a gander round it for a look see and if i was honest, it didnt impress me much.
now before you might think that im taking a dig at you or the product im not, it was my first impressions of it is all.
i might be wrong but i would assume that the lorch in that size would be sold to you as the best of the best and its what i had hoped to see but there was a few minor things that i didnt like, they had one of the knobs broke off it already and it only on display, maybe it was a unfortunate mistake that it got hit by a plank of wood or something but it wasnt there either way.
the panel on the side of the wire feeder was sloppy to me, made of plastic that wasnt a great fit and messy to close i thought.
there might of been one or two other things but they were the ones that stuck out in my mind, it was a damn fine looking welder and id say it sings like a bird when it dose go but i would of liked to have seen something that more represented the catalogue.
now, id be a fussy little fecker so it might of only been me tbh but if i had of been a customer it would of been a bit off putting.
as i say, there is no dig there, im just speaking my mind is all, i still like the brand as it should be a damn good one and that mig there even tho it was 250-300 odd could of been a basic one if they do such a thing so it may of been indicative of the product range for all i know.

I can't comment as such because I don't have any facts. The only machine we do with a plastic feeder is the MicorMig. I don't know why it would of had one of tbe potentiometers broken, could of been damaged caused in transit, could of been damaged by a customer who had returned it to be fixed?? Really don't know. Obviously it shouldn't of been on display in a showroom in that condition regardless.

iirc the rest of the housing was either strong plastic or metal, it was ok, just the door was funny.
naw, it was brand new up on a stand.
it was the only one i seen since so could of been a one off just as quick, if i see one again ill have a look at it.

On the MicorMig, the base unit, is all metal but the separate feeder is duraplast.
The machine wouldn't of left the factory with a broken knob on the front panel so it must of happened on the way or whilst at the dealers. Whatever the cause it shouldn't of been on display if it was broken but perhaps the dealer didn't even realise? Like I say, without knowing the facts it's a bit hard to say. If you see it again, let me know. Cheers

ah id say it was a honest mistake on it not being repaired, they could of been fixing it after i left for all i know.
i know well it wouldnt of left with something broke, they did it either in transit or unpacking id say, id doubt someone would of wrung it off.
no biggie tho, first world problems really.
