LUK brand clutches-are they considered to be a decent brand?

The clutch has started slipping on the car. Yesterday a mate mentioned LUK brand. As a clutch change is not a small job, a bloke I worked with years ago would say always get a decent brand of clutch. He recommended Borg & Beck.

Anyone got thoughts on the LUK brand?

LUK are fine, they're OEM for a lot of vehicles. Those and Sachs/Valeo all tend to be decent. Wouldn't touch much else outside them unless its for competition units.

Yes LUK clutches are good. I fitted one in my Land rover discovery as that is what was already in there & I have had no problems at all.

Fitted a few, they are good.
My local supplier now stocks Borg and Becks.
For the simple reason they can buy then in cheaper.

Last one I brought I had to pay a deposit on it. This was refunded when the old unit was returned.

Exedy are usually made by FCC, you can often get the actual OE clutch from FCC rather than the Exedy alternative (which isn't always the same spec, some RX8 and S2k owners found that one out when the clutches don't hold as much as an OE one, or shatter in the later case)

LUK and sachs are OE for a lot of manufacturers. They're the only brands I'll fit to VAG vehicles. Just watch out for knock off LUK kits, the online market is full of them, the box they come in is a big give away, the genuine ones come in a really good quality heavy duty box, the knock offs come in a crappy box that'll fall apart if you're not careful lifting it.

We used to fit LUK to most BMW's with no problems, recomended, beware of fakes, not at all impressed with Borg and Beck these days, someone has bought the name!

Check the clutch pedal return spring is returning the pedal correctly.
It can give the impression it is slipping as well.

Mine is Valeo my foot is heavy and I'm enough quick shifting
Mechanic didn't notice any damage to it .

Slave cylinder too might be causing the issue
