LUK brand clutches-are they considered to be a decent brand?

Fitted a few, they are good.
My local supplier now stocks Borg and Becks.
For the simple reason they can buy then in cheaper.

Last one I brought I had to pay a deposit on it. This was refunded when the old unit was returned.

In the clutch kit the pressure plate and the clutch plate are stamped in the metal LUK. The bearing is not stamped. I assume LUK don't make the bearings.
In your experience, does this sound about right.

For all I know there could have been a bit of switcheroo at the car spares shop?. The box was not sealed up. I may have ended up with an El cheapo baring.

LUK and sachs are OE for a lot of manufacturers. They're the only brands I'll fit to VAG vehicles. Just watch out for knock off LUK kits, the online market is full of them, the box they come in is a big give away, the genuine ones come in a really good quality heavy duty box, the knock offs come in a crappy box that'll fall apart if you're not careful lifting it.

Yeah that looks legit. I wouldn't be concerned about the INA release bearing. INA is a respected manufacturer of bearings in the auto trade

I have bought a LuK DM flywheel as well. Car is 16 years old. I've owned it just over 10 years.

I only do less than 3k miles per year.I think the car will have rusted away before any more clutch type jobs need doing. It would take me over 10 years to clock another 30k miles up.

You need to buy Exedy from a known trusted supplier, even out of the box they include a leaflet identifying a genuine Exedy clutch from a knock off.

Same with NGK spark plugs, amazing what people will counterfeit..

LUK boxes don't come sealed, and they end up beat about because they're heavy items in cardboard being man handled multiple times by people who have little care. well that's how it was when i worked in parts distribution

INA is the same company as Luk.

go for the luk my mate got a exedy for his S5 l200 it was branded luk!

Exedy are normally fitted to Japanese vehicles, my Mitsubishi GTO had OEM Exedy. As said plenty of fake ones floating about so be careful!.
