Another vote for evolution one, very handy. Whatever one you get I find it handy to stick a couple of thick o rings on as a buffer to stop it sticking to the big lump of metal your trying to pick up the little bits of metal from. Good for rolling it about the drip tray on the lathe, still going to get stuck to the casting if you get too close though

There's a lot of talk of vacuuming here. Am I the only one that has an absolute nightmare vacuuming? I spend more time unclogging the suction hose on the Henry. I have thought about looking for a smooth bore hose to see if that helps.

Off. I stuck the donated powerful magnets away from metal dust. I didn't think of a use for them. Now I can’t tear them off the beam and divide them into parts.

I have 3 Evo Cyclone, the second two are nowhere near as good as the first one I bought. I think I even posted here about it. The first one was magnetic the whole length but the second two have gaps like they have been assembled with less magnets

Very useful tool though, great for finding that bolt you dropped in the dirt of the grass

I threw mine in the bin for two reasons, one being it made my tool post magnetic and secondly useless for non ferrous so vacuum has to come out anyway.

Nope you just need to turn some ferrous chips and all the non ferrous comes up with it.

I used mine a lot and nothing has become magnetic from the wand, and you can demagnetise parts so thats not a huge worry for me.

However I did notice lathe became slightly magnetic when I used strong magnets to attach cardboard chip guarding, but its only minor after a few years and I still do it.


My wand is some delrin I bored out to make tube, and some really strong 16mm dia * 8mm thick magnets, a d a short steel rod as a handle.

Bought the Evolution one. Gave it to him and he tried it on his house keys. Then proceeded to drop said keys down the side of his recliner. No problem, he had just the tool to retrieve them!

My Bosch has 3inch hose always use with reducer to Henry tools for swarf

Vacuuming is for the smaller bits. Owt big enough to clog, you pick up & bin.

There was an Eclipse magnetic broom in a local auction, part of a Cromwell/Zoro returns auction. I was tempted but the magnets were quite weak, I think they would struggle to pick up a nail off the floor if you were using it.
