Looking for something like this, it’s a line lock you fit in the clutch circuit. When disengaged it allows normal operation, but when engaged it locks the line off when the clutch is pressed. Best I can find them is 600 notes which I just can not afford, but the idea is sound.

how about clamping the pedals all together??

In any case it would just be removed by the thieves if they knew where it was, what's the point of a lock that you can unscrew ?

Unscrew it and you have no clutch either way. It’s the fact it is key operated that appeals to me. I have looked at line locks but unless I can put it somewhere with limited access so a pair of pliers can’t be used to turn it and make a handle/key for it

lockable glovebox or under seat box...anymore than that you might as well just get a snap on steering wheel and take that off at night and save £100,s

I’ll be getting a snap off wheel too, but I want as much security as possible. Defenders are disappearing at a hideous rate, I know 2 lads that have woke up to theirs missing in the manc area in the last 2 months

hidden pump solenoid switch dan...i have one on my trucks and when parked up i leave them unlocked...cant take the truck and no smashed glass to get in..

Apparently thieves are now carrying a battery with them and just putting a live straight to the stop solenoid as a matter of course

I know you will never stop them but you can make it as hard as possible. Also with the line lock idea could you not make a bracket around it for a normal padlock to close and lock it??

These 2 above were just other ideas by removing the steering and also cutting the fuel supply completely rather than the stop solenoid.

Something like this may also help as a starting point.

My son's got one of those on his 200tdi 90, it's a well made piece of kit, how effective it would be when under attack I couldn't say but anybody trying to force it off would be faced with an interesting challenge. He got up one morning to find both front doors open, so somebody had obviously thought they had a chance but there was no evidence they'd had a go at the locking device.
I suppose the more security we have, the better chance we have of keeping possession of our stuff.

That mech lock looks a bit spendy Dan, there are lots of keyed hydraulic ball valves on the market capable of holding the kind of pressure in a clutch circuit but not so sure they would stop a landy going walkabouts, around here they just tow them away. Personally I would look at the handbrake, with a hidden locking air brake working in tandem with the existing hanbrake cable , they would need to crane the thing away.

One of these pulling on the same cable as the handbrake, typically a compact short stroke single type 30 will cost about £35.

And one of these hidden away to release it for about £60

Fifty years ago a local milk man had a new Austin van, fitted with what sounds like your question, I remember it was an ignition type key operated an inline one way valve to rear brakes, I believe that it was turned when he parked the van, BUT if anybody stole it, the first press on the brake pedal locked up the rear wheels.

Seemingly it’s illegal in the uk to fit a device like these into the brake circuit, it was my first thought !

You can go either way Dan, spring brake which is a handbrake ( air off) or an actuator as above which is air on. Not so sure that what Gordon is on about is illegal, there is something similar on the dash of my landy cherry picker that keeps the brakes locked on when its in use. Will get a snap of it tomorrow.
