Mig welding exhaust components

Thanks! I made a few decats for a couple of members of a car forum. Cleaned it up too.

So I turned up the heat and I'm using argon/co2 now. Is it better? It does need a clean.

That looks loads better. Please forgive newbie question but are you pulling or pushing the weld pool?

Don't worry about noob questions! I'm a noob too!lol
I push my welds. I learnt to do it that way from the forum guides. I must say, the parweld helmet I got from weldequip really helped my welds out!!

Cool, thanks. It seems you can get that 'stacked coin' effect quite nicely by pushing. Almost looks like tig, except with spatter

Your latest welds are looking cool. I looked up some photos of my own manifold welding done a couple of years ago and they aren't anywhere near as nice. I was trying to weld 1.5mm tube to 8mm plate. Pain in the **** as the plate took all the heat away and my welds looked very much like your first ones.

Don't tell anyone though - I'm trying to build up some rep here on the forum

They look very nice and tidy, when cleaned up the welds look not too much different from the ones you see on "proper" decats you can buy off the shelf, nice work.

What welder are you using?

A squirt or two of antispatter will save a bit of cleaning up.

I find antisplatter spray makes welding unstable... maybe it's just me. Also after a bit of welding it all dries up!!

Any one know where I can find a flange for an exhaust? Its for a vauxhall calibra between the cat pipe and the manifold, 2.5 inch? Im in Crawley west sussex, thanks.
